RUS053 – Maximum Gross Weight

The Maximum Gross Weight (Safety) Sign, RUS 053, indicates that vehicles whose gross weight (Design Gross Vehicle Weight as defined above) exceeds that specified on the sign are prohibited, irrespective of whether the vehicle is carrying a load. This sign is for use where a weight restriction is necessary for safety reasons: for example, at a weak bridge. There are no exemptions.
